Corporate Worship

Priority 1-Corporate Worship

We invite you to join us for one of our scheduled worship services at Williams Creek Baptist. As a church, we recognize that God-centered worship is the mandate of God throughout Scripture. The Lord has declared, "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another." True worshippers are radically transformed by God through the Spirit working through the truth of His Word. John Piper declares that "The missionary purpose of God is as invincible as the fact that he is God. He will achieve this purpose by creating white-hot worshipers from every people, tongue, tribe, and nation (Rev. 5:9; 7:9)." (Let the Nations Be Glad)

Jesus makes a profound declaration to the woman at the well which is recorded in the fourth chapter of John's Gospel. He states, "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

D. A. Carson explains, "While all true worship is God-centered, Christian worship is no less Christ-centered. Empowered by the Spirit and in line with the stipulations of the new covenant, it manifests itself in all our living, finding its impulse in the gospel, which restores our relationship with our Redeemer-God and therefore also with our fellow image-bearers, our co-worshipers." (Worship By The Book)

True worship is only possible through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. True worship is not an event, but the praise filled response of regenerate believers to the glory and magnitude of the One and only sovereign God. The church must therefore pursue God wholeheartedly in worship, seeking that which is from above, shedding all distractions which are from below, and in the words of Paul, "Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
