How to become a member

If the Bible is the foundation of the church, then the members are the living stones comprising the church body.  Both Christ and the apostles point us toward membership for our encouragement, our instruction, and for our protection.  We seek to carry out this biblical vision for becoming a member at Williams Creek Baptist Church as follows:

WCBC Membership Course - This is a series of four classes that provide a biblical and informative introduction to Williams Creek Baptist Church.  Taught by our pastor/elders, this course explores:

  • What the Bible reveals about redemption, the church, church membership, and God's design for every believer to become meaningfully engaged in the life and ministry of the church.
  • A helpful overview of WCBC - History, ministries, associations, outreach and missions
  • Reviewing WCBC Documents - The church's Statement of Faith, Covenant, and Constitution

Membership Interview - Every prospective member meets with a pastor/elder to provide basic biographical information and recount God's converting work in his or her life, baptism, and previous church experience.  Additionally, they will discuss any questions concerning the WCBC documents and provide their affirmation.

Elder Recommendation - At a regularly scheduled elders' meeting, the elder will review the prospective member's testimony with the other elders for their collective affirmation.

Congregational Affirmation - During our regularly scheduled members meetings, the prospective member is presented before the church membership, questions are fielded, a vote is taken, and with a majority secured, individuals are admitted into the membership.
